The North Shore-LIJ Health System performs over 23,000 cardiac catheterization procedures and more than 8,000 intervemtions annually. We are strongly committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care and we are proud that our experienced cardiac program has been consistently recognized by the New York State Department of Health.

Recognized for Successful Outcomes in Coronary Interventions

In the Department of Health’s most recent report (covering 2009-11) on percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) in Manhasset, NY, had the highest success rate for patients undergoing emergency and non-emergency angioplasty, a stent procedure used to clear blocked arteries and increase blood flow to the heart. Another member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, had significantly better outcomes (compared to the state average) for non-emergency angioplasty cases from 2009-11.

The Health System is proud to receive this recognition that reaffirms the superior results of the cardiac services being delivered at North Shore-LIJ hospitals.
